The principal of Chuma Primary School in Town Two, Khayelitsha, is appealing to the community to assist with raising funds to fulfil the dream of one of their learners. Thimna Jack (12) has been selected to represent the Western District Team at the Western Cape Inter-District Tournament, to be held in Bredasdorp, Overberg. The tournament runs from Wednesday, 15 July to Sunday, 18 July.
School principal Xolani Ndamane said Jack needs at least R7 000 to participate in the tournament. He urged local business people and community members to assist where they can.
“As a school, after we received the letter confirming Jack’s selection to the Western District Team, we were overjoyed. We informed her parents about the good news. However, the family is struggling to raise the amount needed for Jack to attend. As a school, we decided to intervene and try to raise the funds for her,” said Ndamane.

Every R20 contribution can make a difference
He added that Jack would not only be representing the school, but Khayelitsha as a whole, and that people could contribute as little as R20.
“We are not asking for much — only R20. She is everyone’s child, and she deserves to play on a bigger stage. Our wish is to see Jack one day playing for the Spar Proteas,” appealed Ndamane.
