Acting North West Prime Minister Nono Maloyi sacks challenging Social Development MEC Boitumelo Moiloa | City Press

Acting Prime Minister Nono Maloyi has dismissed Boitumelo Moiloa, the MEC for Social Development in the North West province, citing her repeated defiance and destabilizing acts within the department. Moiloa’s troubles began with her suspension last month for ignoring Prime Minister Bushy Maape’s directives, which led to significant conflict, notably with HOD Relebohile Mafokane. The tension escalated when Moiloa bypassed protocol to suspend and reappoint officials, contributing to financial irregularities and inefficiencies, including R520 million in wasteful expenditure. The Public Service Commission and Auditor General flagged these issues, prompting her eventual replacement by ANC deputy leader Lazarus Mokgosi. An investigation confirmed the instability caused by Moiloa’s actions, revealing improper engagements with security contracts worth over R22 million monthly, benefiting her acquaintances. Despite warnings, Moiloa persisted in undermining departmental processes, necessitating Maloyi’s intervention to restore order.
