‘We are ready’ : Gauteng police deployed in hot spot areas amid voting

MIDRAND – Police in Gauteng have been deployed ahead of Wednesday’s local government elections to monitor potential hotspot areas.

This comes as Acting Gauteng Police Commissioner Fred Kekana says they have identified more than 180 high-risk areas in the province.

Speaking to eNCA on the sidelines at the National Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Midrand, Kekana said law enforcement will be on high alert to ensure that there are no disruptions during the electoral process.

The same attention will also be given to medium-risk areas, he added.

“We are ready. We have sufficient deployment; some will be static and those that will be moving around,” he said.
