WC education dept probes alleged racial incident at Fairmont High School and Settlers High School

The Western Cape Education Department is investigating an alleged racist incident involving Fairmont High School and Settlers High School.

A video circulating on social media appears to show a rugby referee ending an interschools match early after a racial slur was allegedly used.

Both schools have urged the public not to share the video while the investigation continues, warning that doing so could have legal consequences.

The department’s Bronagh Hammond says the matter is receiving the necessary attention from both schools.

“We ask that the schools are afforded this opportunity without interference or disruption.”
