WEATHER: Sunshine steals the show on Thursday as Gauteng, Cape Town enjoy another crisp winter day

Thursday is shaping up to be another bright winter’s day across Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town, with sunshine, comfortable afternoon temperatures and virtually no chance of rain, according to AccuWeather.

Highs will reach between 21°C and 22°C, while clear skies will give way to much colder conditions after dark.

Johannesburg enjoys hazy sunshine

Johannesburg is forecast to reach a high of 21°C under hazy sunshine.

A light westerly wind of 13 km/h is expected, with gusts reaching 39 km/h. Rain is highly unlikely.

Temperatures will drop sharply overnight to 5°C under clear skies. Light east-south-easterly winds of 9 km/h are forecast, with only a 2% chance of precipitation.

Pretoria stays warm before a cool night

Pretoria is expected to be the warmest of the three cities, reaching 22°C with hazy sunshine.

Winds will be light at 11 km/h from the west-northwest, with gusts of up to 37 km/h. The chance of rain sits at just 1%, with no thunderstorms expected.

The mercury is then forecast to fall to 7°C overnight under clear skies. South-south-easterly winds of 11 km/h are expected, with a 3% chance of precipitation.

Cape Town enjoys another pleasant winter’s day

Cape Town is also set for pleasant conditions, with partly sunny skies and a high of 21°C.

South-easterly winds will remain light at 9 km/h, with gusts of up to 19 km/h. No rain is expected during the day.

Partly cloudy skies are forecast overnight as temperatures dip to 8°C. East-south-easterly winds of 7 km/h will continue, with no chance of rain.
