Gift of the Givers spokesperson Ali Sablay says close to 500 foreign nationals were displaced during anti-illegal immigrant demonstrations in Robertson, Drakenstein, and Sedgefield in Knysna on Tuesday.
“In Sedgefield, Knysna, things have gotten out of control. There are currently 120 Malawians at a community hall, and they are evacuating families from informal settlements around the Sedgefield area. We are currently busy in Robertson as well, where there are 320 people, consisting mostly of Malawian nationals, at the hall. There are about 53 individuals in Drakenstein.”
