The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) in the Western Cape has distanced itself from a planned anti-immigration march in Dunoon Saturday, amid growing protests across the country calling for stricter immigration laws.
The civic body was responding to a social media poster promoting the demonstration and carrying logos of groups including March and March, Operation Dudula, For the People and the Labour and Civic Organisation.

SANCO said it supports the enforcement of South Africa’s immigration laws but insisted that action against undocumented foreign nationals must be lawful and constitutional.
“We understand the frustrations that South Africans are facing, and we agree with some of the issues being raised which are done by some foreign nationals because not all of them are committing these things they are accused of. We agree that they are valid, but we believe that we have got law enforcement agencies in South Africa we are not above the law,” said Sinethemba Matomela.
