JOHANNESBURG – Fourteen municipal by-elections took place on Wednesday in the Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, North West Cape and Western Cape.
One independent candidate and 51 candidates from 13 political parties took part in the elections.

The political landscape has changed since former Economic Freedom Front vice-chairman Floyd Shivambu left the red berets to join the MK party a week ago.
