Ixias FC and Kovsies FC to represent Free State in Sasol Women’s League provincial play-offs – gsport4girls

With just a few games left in the Sasol Women’s League streams, there are still teams looking to book their spot in the upcoming provincial play-offs. The Free State will see a repeat of last year’s teams in the play-offs as Ixias FC and Kovsies secured their spot after stellar campaigns.

Ixias secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Napoli Ladies FC to move eight points clear of second placed Metsimaholo Ladies FC. Kovsies meanwhile set the pace in Stream B and a 0-0 draw against Dimamarela FC was enough to see them through to the play-offs in Cape Town later this year.

Stream B in the Northern Cape is still to be decided as Royal Wizards and Diamond Ladies FC battle it out for that all-important playoff spot. It is Wizards who hold a slim three-point lead over second-placed Diamond Ladies who managed a huge 7-0 win over Griqua-Chiefs FC.

Wizards also secured a vital 2-0 win over Pixley Ladies FC on Saturday 24th August. With two games remaining, there is still a lot at stake for both teams.

This year’s Sasol Women’s League has produced some impressive records. Newcastle Chess FC top the ‘Invincibles’ logbook. The KwaZulu Natal team collected 40 points and lost just one game out of the 16 matches they played during their campaign.

They also have the best overall record of the teams competing in this year’s competition. Ramatlaohle Ladies from Limpopo were second on the Invincibles log, with 45 points and were unbeaten in 15 games.

FC Kerlis from the Free State, on the other hand, had a rather tumultuous season, losing fourteen out of sixteen games and conceding a total of 124 goals.
