Police units arrest suspects, seize vehicles and firearms | Kempton Express

Between 2 and 7 August, Rapid Response Services, comprising the Flying Squad, K9 Units and members of the Highway Patrol across Gauteng, arrested 104 suspects and seized 44 motor vehicles and seven firearms.

Officers participated in various targeted operations, vehicle checks, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

These operations resulted in 46 arrests for serious crimes, including assault and aggravated assault, possession of suspected stolen property, theft, possession of burglary tools, illegal cigarettes, malicious damage to property, robbery, murder, intimidation, fraud and bribery.

A total of 44 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were found. 16 arrests were made for possession of these vehicles.

Seven unlicensed firearms were found, along with six arrests.

Further police action resulted in the arrest of 36 people for drug possession and trafficking.

In these separate incidents, items seized included heroin, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine.

The investigation into these matters is still ongoing.

The suspects will appear before local courts in Gauteng.
