JOHANNESBURG – The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) said it had taken great lessons about its oversight functions after an illegal military camp was found in Mpumalanga.
The regulator announced the camp where 95 Libyans were found was being operated illegally by Milites Dei Security Services.

While the company was registered under PSiRA to provide basic security training, it had no authority to train foreign nationals in military-style tactics.
“As I said, there are lessons we have learnt, how to improve in the type of work that we do,” said PSiRA CEO Manabele Chauke.
“Unfortunately, I hope you not asking me if whether we are collecting intelligence, that’s not the work that we do. That’s the question for other agencies. For me, we will learn to improve from where we are right now.”
