Body of missing Disebo Mosupa found in cemetery in Welkom

Thirty-year-old Disebo Mosupa, acting youth development officer at Matjhabeng Municipality, was reported missing last week.

Mosupa’s father raised the alarm after he found her house ransacked and her car damaged.

According to reports, the father went to check on his daughter on Friday, but found her house locked. He then reportedly called Mosupa’s partner, who told him the house was unlocked.

When the victim’s father arrived at the house the second time, he saw her gate open, and when he went inside, he saw her clothes strewn across the floor and what appeared to be drag marks on the floor. He then called the police.

According to Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele, their extensive search for Mosupa led them to a cemetery in Welkom.

“When we received information about Disebo’s disappearance, a team consisting of police investigators, community members and family members launched an extensive search. Eventually, a body was found at Thabong cemetery.

“The body, which was buried in a used grave, was exhumed this morning by forensic investigators.”

Police have confirmed that a 37-year-old suspect has been arrested for murder.
