Community leader describes rape of teenagers as shameful

A community leader in Mokopane has described as shameful, the rape of two teenage girls and the murder of one of them in Ga-Mokaba village, calling on the justice system to ensure the perpetrator is permanently removed from society.

The two girls aged 13 and 17 were reportedly hitchhiking when they were picked up by a motorist at Moshate Cross.

It is alleged that the suspect then dropped them off near Tshamahansi taxi rank, and later returned, threatening them with a sharp object and forcing them into the vehicle, before raping them.

The 13-year-old girl was strangled, while the 17-year-old was stabbed with a sharp object multiple times, by the alleged repeat sex offender.

Ward 20 councillor in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality, Homeboy Sebele has hailed the swift arrest of the suspect, and further expressed confidence in the police’s ability to do their work.
