Gauteng Health Department faces Section 27 lawsuit

JOHANNESBURG – Section27 has filed a lawsuit against the Gauteng Health Department, on behalf of Cancer Alliance.

It’s alleged the department failed to spend the allocated R700-million, to treat cancer patients.

The money was also meant to reduce the province’s backlog in surgeries and radiation treatments.

In a statement, the health department has opposed the matter in court and claims the application lacks clarity.
