“We are working closely with our security partners, including the South African police services, to support a safe environment for both the voters and election officials, and also to secure our venues”

Hendrickse adds that registered voters should bring along either a green ID book or an ID card, and vote at the station where they are registered.

“We want to remind our voters to please bring along their green bar-coded ID book, or a small or a smart ID card, or then a valid temporary identity certificate, and to make sure that they vote at their station where they are registered.”
