Gauteng’s Community Safety Department has urged families to encourage therapy for loved ones with personal trauma or anger issues.
The department hosted an anti-gender-based violence (GBV) awareness campaign in KwaThema, Ekurhuleni, on Friday.

This follows the separate discoveries of women’s bodies around the municipality.
The awareness campaign was aimed at men, urging them to advocate for the protection of women and children.
Acting department head Mmemme Makane-Sibanda said, “If you are a man in your family, and you have a son who is abusive, as a man of the house, you must deal with that problem that your son has. There’s therapy; there are a number of programs that are being led through government to ensure that we rehabilitate abusers. It’s possible for someone who is abusive to change, but they must go and seek help.”
