Sewage saga: WCED set to meet with Kuyasa Primary School community

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is set to meet with the Kuyasa Primary School community on Thursday, following a sewage overflow problem at the school.

The confirmed meeting follows a protest by some learners, parents and the ward councillor, outside the WCED building on Wednesday.
 
Protesting residents said the overflow has disrupted school activities and raised health concerns for both learners and teachers.
 
Ward councillor Lonwabo Mqina said classes, which were halted on Friday, will not resume until the issue is resolved
 
“I’m satisfied with what we’ve got, because what we’ve got here is what we’re looking for, a time and date for the meeting, because what pushed us to come here is because with a commitment from the department to sit with us in a meeting yesterday [Tuesday] at 12 o’clock, they never pitched.”
