Fog blankets South Africa’s Southern and Eastern coasts as heat grips the interior

The South African Weather Service has issued weather updates stating that fine, cool to warm conditions expected in some provinces this week.

Weather conditions and UVB forecast in South Africa’s provinces

Gauteng

Gauteng can expect fine and warm.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index is Very High

Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect morning fog patches on the eastern Highveld and escarpment areas, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot in places in the Lowveld.

Limpopo

In Limpopo, morning fog patches in the north-west and central parts, otherwise fine and warm but hot in places in the Lowveld.

North West

North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect fine and warm.

Free State

In the Free State, fine and cool to warm.

Northern Cape

Morning fog patches, otherwise fine and warm to hot but cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape

Morning fog patches in the north-west and southern parts, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and warm to hot. It will be cold in places along the south and south-west coasts. The wind along the coast will be light and variable along the south coast until the afternoon, otherwise moderate to fresh south-easterly to easterly reaching strong

The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Fine and cool, but cloudy in the south in the morning and evening with mist in places, otherwise partly cloudy. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate south- westerly.

The Eastern half: Fine and cool, becoming cloudy along the coast and adjacent interior in the evening with fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate south- westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal

Partly cloudy with morning fog over the interior, otherwise fine and cool to warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly, but fresh in the north at times. It will become south-westerly south of Durban from the morning, spreading northwards and reaching Kosi Bay towards evening.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index is Extreme
