Gauteng Roads & Transport hands over 211 operating licences ahead of August deadline

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has handed over 211 operating licenses to compliant public transport operators ahead of a collection deadline.

The licenses were handed over during the departments’ Special Operating License Handover ceremonies held across Gauteng between Wednesday and Friday this week.

Department spokesperson, Lesiba Mpya said that the initiative was aimed at helping operators collect their approved licenses and remain compliant.

He said the department has handed over more than 3 000 operating licenses to minibus taxi and scholar transport operators across the province since November last year.

“The handover ceremony covering cities of Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Sedibeng District, served to enable compliant public transport operators to collect their approved operating licenses before the collection deadline,” said Mpya.
