South Africans can expect largely fine and cool weather on Friday, with no severe weather warnings in place across the country.
Most inland provinces, including Gauteng, Limpopo, North West and the Free State, will enjoy dry conditions under cool temperatures, while parts of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal south coast face a chance of light rain.
The South African Weather Service forecasts fine and cool conditions over Gauteng, North West and the Free State, while Limpopo will remain fine and cool to warm, with partly cloudy skies in the eastern areas.
Mpumalanga will be partly cloudy with morning fog patches in the east before clearing to fine conditions, although temperatures will be warmer in the Lowveld.
In the Western Cape, cloudy to partly cloudy conditions are expected during the morning, with fog in some central areas. Conditions will clear later in the day, remaining cold to cool, while north-western parts of the province can expect warmer temperatures.
The only notable rainfall is forecast along sections of the southern coastline. The Western and Eastern Cape coastal belt has a 30% chance of isolated showers and rain, particularly along the coast and adjacent interior areas.
A similar 30% chance of isolated showers and rain is expected along the KwaZulu-Natal south coast and nearby inland areas.
Motorists are advised to remain cautious in areas affected by morning fog, especially in parts of Mpumalanga, the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, where visibility may be reduced during the early hours.
Looking ahead, the weather service has warned that a cold front accompanied by a cut-off low-pressure system is expected to affect the southern Drakensberg and surrounding areas from Sunday into Monday.
The system could bring very cold, wet and windy conditions, rough seas and a risk of localised flooding, prompting calls for residents and livestock owners to take precautionary measures.
