Western Cape Education receives a special ward for achieving 88.2% matric pass in 2025

The Western Cape Education Department has received a Special Ministerial Award for achieving a matric pass rate above 88.2% in 2025.

The department also secured 10 awards at the National Education Excellence Awards held in Sandton on Thursday.

Among the honours, the Cape Winelands Education District took first place for Physical Science.

Metro North came in second for Mathematics and placed third in Physical Science.

Metro Central placed first in support for Primary Learning Outcomes, while the Eden and Central Karoo Education District placed first for Leadership and Management.
