WC govt approves new sales model for Mossel Bay affordable housing units

The Western Cape Government has approved a new sales model for the remaining Mountain View affordable housing units in Mossel Bay.

The new Instalment Sale Agreement will allow qualifying residents to move into their homes while working towards full ownership through a legally protected process and financial readiness programmes.

The government says the model will help families who cannot access traditional mortgage finance, while also reducing the risk of illegal occupation.

Infrastructure MEC Tertuis Simmers says Mossel Bay faces a shortage of affordable housing, adding that government must continue to innovate as market conditions change.

“Rather than abandoning the project, we are adapting it to meet today’s housing realities and creating a sustainable bridge from renting to owning,” said Simmers.
