Severe thunderstorms are forecast in parts of the Eastern Cape.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds in the central parts of the Eastern Cape, while cloudy and cool conditions are forecast for most parts.

Yellow Level 1 warning: Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours resulting in localised flooding of low-lying areas, roads and bridges, as well as hail and damaging winds, which will lead to damage to settlements and infrastructure over the central parts of the Eastern Cape.

An intense cold front is expected to result in very cold, wet and windy conditions in places over the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State and the southern parts of North West between Thursday and Friday. Very rough to high seas can also be expected.
