The killing of two political figures in two separate incidents in the Eastern and Western Cape has been widely condemned.
Police confirmed the murder of a ward councillor in Zwide, Gqeberha, on Saturday night. The 45-year-old was gunned down inside his office. Officers say two armed men burst into an office where a meeting attended by about ten people was underway.
In the Western Cape incident, Democratic Alliance (DA) activist and by-election candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe was also shot dead on her way home after taking part in a voter registration campaign in Dunoon.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the killers in both cases.
