WEATHER: Gauteng will be sunny on Thursday, Cape Town gets 65km/h gusts

Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town are all set for dry weather on Thursday, 18 June, with sunshine dominating across South Africa’s major metros and virtually no chance of rain, according to AccuWeather.

Johannesburg will see hazy sunshine during the day with a maximum temperature of 17°C. Light north-north-easterly winds of 7km/h are expected, although gusts could reach 24km/h.

Conditions will remain clear overnight in Johannesburg, with temperatures dropping to 6°C under a crystal-clear sky. Light north-easterly winds of 6km/h are forecast, with no rainfall expected.

Pretoria is forecast to be slightly warmer, reaching a daytime high of 19°C. Residents can expect intervals of bright sunshine, with north-easterly winds at 9km/h and gusts up to 22km/h.

The capital will cool to 7°C overnight under clear to partly cloudy skies. East-north-easterly winds of 7km/h are expected, while rain and thunderstorms remain unlikely.

Cape Town is set for a sunny winter’s day after some early cloud cover, with temperatures reaching 18°C. South-southeasterly winds will be noticeably stronger than in Gauteng at 26km/h, with gusts peaking at 65km/h. No rain is expected.

The Mother City will remain dry overnight with a crystal-clear sky and a minimum temperature of 13°C. South-easterly winds of 20km/h will continue, accompanied by strong gusts of up to 59km/h.
