Phuthaditjhaba police in the Free State are appealing for anyone who may be looking for a missing male relative to contact them after a decomposed body was discovered in the Namahadi River near Clubview.
Police were alerted by a community member on Thursday to a body floating on the surface of the river.
Officials further discovered that the deceased had been wrapped in a blanket and tied to a stone with a thread.
Authorities said they could not determine at this stage if there were any visible injuries because the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
