The South African Weather Service has issued weather updates, informing the public that the combination of disruptive snow, very cold conditions and very rough seas can be expected this weekend.
SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Disruptive snow leading to icy roads resulting in traffic disruptions is expected over the north-eastern high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape.
B. Yellow Level 4 Warning: Wind and waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea as well as small vessels taking on water is expected between Plettenberg Bay and East London.

Very cold conditions are expected over the southern Namakwa District in the Northern Cape as well as in places over the Eastern Cape interior.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect cloudy in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to cold.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect partly cloudy and cool to cold, but warm over the Lowveld, with isolated morning showers over the central parts.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers in the morning over the south-central parts, becoming fine in the north from the afternoon.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect partly cloudy and cold.
Free State
In the Free State, morning fog patches in places, otherwise cloudy and cold to very cold with isolated showers and thundershowers. It will be windy in the extreme east.
Northern Cape
Morning fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to very cold, but cloudy in the east with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-east. It will be fine in the extreme west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to southeasterly.
Western Cape
Fine in the west where it will be cool, otherwise partly cloudy and cold but cloudy along the south coast and adjacent interior with isolated morning showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be Light south-easterly but moderate to fresh westerly along the south coast.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Moderate
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Cloudy and cold to very cold with isolated showers of rain becoming partly cloudy over the interior by afternoon. The wind along the coast will be Fresh westerly to south-westerly.
The Eastern half: Cloudy and cold to very cold with scattered showers of rain, with snowfalls expected over the high-lying areas. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy, cool to cold with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered over the north- eastern parts where it will be warm. The wind along the coast will be Th wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north- westerly in the north, otherwise southerly to south- westerly spreading to the north from the morning.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is Moderate.
