Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said repair work is underway across the province where a power line between Boskloof and Romansrivier was damaged.
Eskom has reconnected electricity to about 80% of affected areas, while more than 60% of the 400 roads damaged in the storms have been reopened.
However, Winde said many communities remain cut off from critical services.
“Please… I do understand the frustration. Our teams are working flat out… trying to swap them around so they at least get a bit of a break. We are keeping it going, making sure the overtime is there.”
He said relief efforts have also been scaled up, with officials working under difficult conditions to restore essential services.
