Western Cape bloodshed: 7 people killed in separate Khayamandi shootings

It’s been a bloody start to the weekend in the Western Cape, with seven people have been gunned down in separate shootings in Khayamandi, Stellenbosch.

Police have confirmed they have launched a manhunt for suspects believed to be behind the attacks.

In one incident, a 46-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by three gunmen shortly after returning home from work Friday evening.

Three victims were also found with gunshot wounds at their respective homes, in two other reported shootings.

Western Cape police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said the cases have been handed over to provincial serious violent crime detectives for investigation.

“The motive for the shooting incidents is the subject to the police investigation currently underway; detectives are also probing whether the incidents are linked or not. No arrests have been made” Potelwa said.
