Nine Free State officers accused of murder were granted bail

FREE STATE – Nine Bultfontein police officers accused of murder have been granted bail.

Their case is related to an incident that occurred in Phahameng Municipality in 2024.

The officers responded to a domestic dispute.

They tried to arrest family members who had barricaded themselves in a house.

Officers then allegedly conducted a tactical raid and reportedly fired their firearms.

Three family members and a police officer were killed.

Forty-three spent shell casings were collected from the crime scene.

The case has been postponed to May 26, 2026.
