WATCH: Boxing tournament showcases top Mpumalanga and international fighters | Middelburg Observer

An electric night of boxing unfolded at Eastdene Community Hall as Ilanga Boxing Promotions, with the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, hosted a tournament featuring international and provincial title fights.

Local fighters shone, with Blessing Shongwe claiming the junior bantamweight provincial title and Sibongumusa Ngobeni opening the night with a second-round technical knockout. Other notable bouts included Xolani Mgidi and Alima Nkosi securing victories, and Zimbabwean champion Ndoda Ncube winning a majority decision before being hospitalised post-fight.

Organisers praised the high level of competition and the platform provided for developing boxers.
