Police launch manhunt after a woman is raped at Limpopo graveyard

Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for three suspects after a 24-year-old woman was brutally raped at a graveyard, while her boyfriend was stabbed and held at knifepoint during the attack.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, at the Phiphidi Village graveyard.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the victim was walking with her boyfriend towards Phiphidi Village when they encountered a group of about seven men near the graveyard, some armed with bottles and knives.

He added that the suspects allegedly demanded money, and when the couple said they had nothing, the victim was forcibly dragged towards the graveyard entrance.

“She was then threatened with a knife and repeatedly raped by three suspects, while her boyfriend was held at knifepoint and stabbed.”

Ledwaba further revealed that the ordeal continued inside the graveyard, where the victim was further assaulted before the suspects fled the scene.

The suspects remain unknown and are still at large.

Police are urging anyone with information on the suspects to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Lusunzi Mashudu on 079 891 1199, the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, their nearest police station, or share information via the MySAPSApp

Authorities stress that all information could be crucial as investigations continue.
