The Western Cape has recorded its highest-ever monthly TB testing figures, with nearly 40,000 people tested last month alone.
This milestone was reached before World TB Day, which is observed on the 24-th of March.
The provincial Health and Wellness department said the increase reflects the province’s intensified efforts to detect and treat TB early.

The province’s Health and Wellness MEC, Mireille Wenger, has stressed the importance of prioritising the needs of the most vulnerable in the fight against TB.
“TB is preventable and curable and the earlier you come forward, the better your outcome and the lower the risk to those around you. So if you’re feeling unwell or if you’ve stopped treatment, please come to your nearest clinic or return to care. You will be welcomed and supported every step of the way.”
