The Free State Rugby Union (FSRU) is proud to announce an exciting Free State Challenge Cup final, following an action-packed semi-final weekend that showcased the very best of club rugby in the province.
In Aliwal North, Collegians put in an impressive performance to beat Aliwal Buffels 61-47 in a thrilling, high-scoring encounter that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. The match was a real testament to the competitive spirit and attacking flair that defines Free State club rugby.
Meanwhile, in Bloemfontein, the Bloemfontein Police recorded an impressive 52-11 victory over the Free State Agriculture College, underscoring their strength and intent as they booked their place in the final in dominant fashion.
These results set the stage for a highly anticipated final between two of Bloemfontein’s most legendary and long-standing rivals, Bloemfontein Police and Bloemfontein Collegians. The derby clash promises to be a hard-fought battle, fueled by pride, history and the pursuit of glory in the Challenge Cup.
The final will take place next Friday evening at Steyners Rugby Club, Pres Steyn High School in Bloemfontein. Supporters can expect a showcase of top quality rugby as both teams look to cement their place as Free State Challenge Cup champions.
