Movement hails Lekompo triumph! | Daily Sun

Singer Melita Mogale, known as Kharishma,is among Lekompo artists who were nominated at the 2026 Metro FM Music Awards.

LIMPOPO Artists Movement (LAM) says it’s proud of the progress and success achieved by Lekompo artists across the province.

Speaking to Daily Sun, the organisation applauded the growing recognition of the Lekompo genre and the artists who continue to elevate Limpopo’s music scene.

They said the genre has put their province on the map and they’ll forever support every artist involved in it.

They also wished all the artists nominated for the Metro FM Music Awards well, saying any wins would be a victory for the entire province.

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba previously said she’s pleased with how people in the province continue to embrace their identity and take pride in who they are.

She expressed how proud she is of the Lekompo genre and the talented artists emerging from Limpopo. The premier encouraged local musicians to remain proud of their roots and never feel ashamed.

“Our province is read on newspapers and seen on TV. Lekompo is Limpopo music and you can’t find this genre anywhere. That pleases me because if you don’t love yourself first, no one else will love you,” she said.

LAM also sent a message of support to popular Lekompo artist Kharishma, wishing her a full and speedy recovery.

The singer is still recovering from injuries she sustained in a car accident she was involved in last year. She was one of the artists nominated at the MMA26, and many people have been wondering if she’s recovering well.
