KZN Squash Teams Excel | The Witness

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) girl’s squash teams recently participated in inter-provincial tournaments in the Eastern and Western Cape.

The Under 11s returned from George after winning all their matches while the Under 13 As, brought home the silver medal from Gqeberha.

The festival this year focused on learning to love the game of squash in the hope that it would provide additional learning opportunities and life lessons for the players.

The under 11 team was made up of Epworth and Laddsworth girls Liya Moonisami, Britney Cameron, Azariah Chengiah and Tayla Moon.

The under 13 A team was made up of five players from Epworth (Chelsey Cameron and Kimeya Moonisami), St John’s (Storme Hawkins and Madison Boswell), while Kaira Chetty was from Westville Junior.

Bernadette Cameron, the team’s manager said that parents were “very proud and excited” about their daughters’ achievements.

“These girls put hours and hours of training in, both team and individual, private and school organised.

“They represent the top rungs of their respective ladders which they earned,” Cameron said.

“The parents have also put lots of hours in with carrying their children back and forth from matches and training,” Cameron said.

Cameron added that the coaches and the parents are very grateful towards KZN Squash for their commitment and aid in getting the girls to this level.

Other age-group teams also did exceptionally well at IPT.
