VAALPARK – The lush fairways and immaculate greens of the Heron Banks Golf Course provide the backdrop for the 2026 Free State Open Stroke Play Championship, which concludes this afternoon. The prestigious three-day tournament kicked off on Friday, January 16, with all competitors tackling the first 18 holes in ideal summer conditions.
On Saturday the full field returned for another demanding round of 18 holes, after which the rankings were tightened as only the top 60 players and equals secured their places in Sunday’s action.
The final day, Sunday, January 19, puts the remaining golfers under intense pressure as they battle over a grueling 36 holes to determine the 2026 Free State Open champion.
