A pilot died after a minor plane crashsouth of Bloemfontein in the Free State on Friday morning.
The Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center (ARCC) confirmed that it was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and immediately activated emergency response protocols.
Emergency services were dispatched to the crash site, where the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this stage, authorities have not released any details about the aircraft involved or the identity of the pilot. Information about the flight’s departure point, intended destination and the circumstances leading up to the crash have also not yet been made public.
The ARCC, which coordinates aviation emergencies across South Africa, is working with local authorities to manage the response and determine the cause of the crash. Investigators are expected to examine the wreckage and review available flight data once the area has been secured.
