On Monday, November 24, a new tornado struck the Free State, this time near the city of Heilbron.

South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela confirmed to News24 that the weather phenomenon was indeed a tornado, but minimal damage was caused.
“We’ve had no reports of damage. From the footage it’s clearly a tornado, and it was in a region where we were warning of severe thunderstorms. It appears that a combination of storms in the area may have resulted in some wind shear, particularly low-level wind shear, along with plenty of moisture. So there were several systems converging in the area,” he said.
