At least ten people have been killed in an accident between a bus and a truck on the N8 between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo in the Free State.
The accident happened on Saturday morning 5km from Mandela View, injuring 30 bus passengers.
Six people were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, five with moderate injuries and 19 with minor injuries.
Road Traffic Management Corporation spokesman Simon Zwane said an investigation into the cause of the accident was underway.
“The impact resulted in a full emergency response, with paramedics, fire brigades and law enforcement officers attending the scene,” and tragically, 10 people suffered fatal injuries and were declared deceased at the scene,” he said.
“Crash reconstruction experts have been sent to the scene to determine the exact cause of the collision,” Zwane said.
