Pacofs partners with Free State schools to inspire future theater makers – Bloemfontein Courant

The Performing Arts Center of the Free State (Pacofs) has announced a partnership initiative with schools across the province with the aim of strengthening community engagement while providing students with access to professional theater experiences.

This is according to Pacofs CEO Themba Dlamini, who added that it is also nurturing “the next generation of theater makers and audiences.”

The partnership is an extension of the institutions’ commitment to arts education and audience development, with participating schools having the opportunity to present their annual productions under a 50/50 profit-sharing model. “This partnership ensures that schools benefit financially while providing students with an invaluable introduction to the world of professional theatre.”

Schools will be required to present the production, marketing within the school community and the sale of a minimum of 572 tickets for the Sand du Plessis Theater or 180 tickets for André Huguenet Theater. The first production round will be presented in 2026. The registration of partnerships and signing of agreements began in October and will continue until December 2025.

In addition, schools receive access to technical staff, facilities and costumes, among other things.

Interested schools can contact Michelle Horn by emailing stageservicemanager@pacofs.co.za / info@pacofs.co.za for more information.
