North West scholar transport service providers down tools

KLERKSDORP – Hundreds of pupils in the North West could not make it to school on Monday.

Scholar transport service providers have downed tools over non-payment.

They say they haven’t been paid for five months.

Departments in the North West government are blaming each other for the non-payment.

Service providers say they can’t promise any form of service on Tuesday morning due to a lack of fuel.

The provincial authorities say funds for one month’s service will be paid by Tuesday, and they hope to pay some of the remaining arrears by Friday.
