Stellenbosch FC will travel to Nelspruit to take on Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final after Mbombela Stadium was announced as the host venue for the showpiece event.

Beaten finalists against Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last year, Stellenbosch will have a shot at redemption next month when the team travels to Nelspruit to take on the Buccaneers in a repeat of the 2024 MTN8 final.

This year’s finale is set to take place on Saturday, 13 September at 18h00, at the 43,500-seater Mbombela Stadium, which was famously used as a 2010 FIFA World Cup venue and which hosted numerous matches at the 2013 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

The Maroons have been drawn as the away team for the tie.

Steve Barker’s side reached this year’s final after overcoming AmaZulu 3-2 in the quarter-finals, before claiming a 3-1 aggregate win over Sekhukhune United in the semi-finals earlier in August.

Stellies’ opponents, meanwhile, overcame the challenge of Richards and Mamelodi Sundowns en route to setting up a mouthwatering rematch against the team from the Cape Winelands.

Further information for the encounter, including kick-off times, ticket pricing, and broadcast details, will all be communicated in due course.
