JOHANNESBURG – Close to 500 illegal miners arrested at the Sheba Mine shaft in Barberton are expected to appear in court this morning.
Authorities estimate that over one thousand miners were operating underground.
About 400 of them are refusing to surface.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli says law enforcement continues to monitor the shaft for movement.
