Parliament’s portfolio comité for Cooperative Board and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Says that it has drawn a red line when it comes to the culture of impunity, corruption and irregularities in municipalities.
The committee grilled the 23 municipalities in the free state as part of turning bad governance and financial maladministration at the local government.
It controls a new joint supervisory model in the free state that is said to have the worst running municipalities in the country.
“That every quarter the municipalities will report that they have done all the things that the Auditor General has noticed as the weaknesses and the Department will ensure that the management issues are tackled so that the dysfunctionality is burned. Mkhize.
He says that someone is being disciplined, removed from the office or that they have to be charged.
“Everyone must understand that it takes us back to the normal culture of good governance and discipline in the management of public resources,” he adds.
