BARBERTON -The remains of former Deputy President David Mabuza have been formally handed over to his family ahead of Saturday’s funeral service.
On Friday afternoon, a guard of honour escorted his remains to his homestead in Barberton, Mpumalanga.
The former African National Congress (ANC) deputy leader passed away last week after battling a short illness.
Hundreds of ANC supporters have gathered outside the homestead of former deputy president David Mabuza, paying tribute to a man they regarded as a true leader.
Their singing carries across his farm as the family prepares to bid a final farewell to their loved one.
Family spokesperson Desmond Moela says the family will spend a private moment with Mabuza’s remains before he is laid to rest tomorrow.
“The family will be given an opportunity to rest so that early tomorrow they can also prepare for the final day of the late Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa.”
Meanwhile, the family is getting ready for a prayer service where they will seek comfort and strength through prayer.
