Western Cape storms leave thousands affected

CAPE TOWN – Torrential rainfall has wreaked havoc in several Cape Town communities and affected over 3,000 residents.

Flooding in both formal and informal settings were recorded and the metro’s disaster teams are out in full force to bring relief to the victims.

The adverse weather conditions are set to continue until Sunday, with the South African Weather Service forecasting clear skies on Monday.

City authorities say 500 structures and 2,000 residents in the Vygieskraal Informal Settlement have also been impacted. 

Relief aid is being distributed to the victims.
