JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng response teams are on high alert, with temperatures dropping to below freezing in some parts from Friday night.
Joburg EMS says the cold snap is a serious risk to residents of informal settlements.
“From our side as city of Johannesburg emergency management services, we are concerned about the warning from SAWS about the below freezing temperatures in most parts of the city of which we know most of our vulnerable communities in especially residents in informal settlements, they will be the hardest hit because of the heating devices they are using,” Joburg EMS spokeperson, Robert Mulaudzi explained.
