Mpumalanga rugby coach to lead provincial team at school nationals in Durban | Mpumalanga News

A rugby coach from eMalahleni, Bongani Mntungwa (29), has been selected as the head coach of the Mpumalanga U15 rugby team for the prestigious National Winter Games Championship tournament. He and his handpicked squad of 23 pupils from across the province will travel to Durban to compete for the title from July 11 to 15.

The team will play three matches, with their results determining their place in the finals. Mntungwa’s appointment reflects his confidence and passion for nurturing young rugby talent in the province, with the ultimate goal of seeing them reach the Springboks.

“I took a chance and applied for the head coach position. I was surprised when I got a call for an interview, and even more so when I found out I was selected,” he said.
