On a cold winter morning on Monday, the hopeful director of Martie du Plessis School, Francois van Heerden, expressed his appreciation for the support that the public gave to the school community, friends and family of 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi, who has been missing for a week now.
“The only thing you really left is hope, what is instrumental and fundamental, because if you lose hope, you lose everything,” he said, spoke to the teachers and officials of the Free State Department of Education who came to the school to show their support.
Bloemfontein Courant report The head of the Ministry of Education, Adv Tsoarelo Malakoane, repeated this sentiment by emphasizing that the kidnapping of the student raises many questions about the morality of society.
“Our moral conscience is assessed on how well we treat our children, especially children who are vulnerable. Whoever would even have an idea to harm someone who needed our support as a society?” He asked. Malakoane encouraged the audience to remain standing with those who will be hit immediately during this period, because the department and school will offer counseling. “If you feel that you need the support, take advantage of what you are provided,” he said.
Baukudi was abducted by two men who present themselves as police officers in Vereeniging Drive in Bloemfontein after he was picked up at school last Thursday. At the time of printing, the spokesperson for the police brigadier Motantsi Makhele confirmed that there are no new developments in the case.
The case of the 42-year-old police officer, Philemon Adoon, who was arrested and accused of kidnapping and extortion, was postponed yesterday, after the case was brought forward on Monday. The suspect called Baukudi’s mother and asked for a ransom. “Specifically, which we concentrated on, was the issue of kidnapping and in between, while the investigation continued, there was a ransom question that started,” Makhele explained.
Free State Prime Minister Letsoha-Mathae praised the police for their rapid response and because they are not biased by arresting one of them. “What is the key to us is to find Kamogelo, which is heartbreaking, is the residence of Kamogelo. We are here to maintain the family, to say that we are in prayers with you,” she said after the judicial procedure.
As the search continues, members of the public who may have information that the police can help to ask Baukudi to contact Captain Sabata Jafta Moseme on 082 526 2713, use the MYSAPS app or call the Saps Crime Stop Number 08600 10111 with additional information.
The citizen report That the police officer’s case was stuck after the court heard that the missing teenager, who is necessary to identify the accused in an identification parade, was not found.
The case against Adoon, accused of kidnapping and extortion in connection with the disappearance of Kamogelo, was postponed until 24 June.
